“Alumni” - Ricky Eat Acid + Arrange

So Sam and I started this little EP quite a while ago (Oct - Nov 2011) then Sam’s computer died. Since then it’s just been sitting around collecting digital dust. We decided after polite nudging from a few people that it was probably time to just release it. We hope you enjoy it. : ) And of course like everything else we release, it’s free to download via our respective bandcamps.

if you’re up late enough you get a cool treat. (i guess you get it tomorrow too)
malcom and i decided it’s finally time to release what we have of the album we were working on last fall-winter
via bandcamp -

Malcom Lacey and I recorded these four songs in the fall-winter of 2011. We intended to record a full album in this style but because of my computer failing we had to put the project on hold for a long time. We decided it would be better to release the four songs we did finish as an album of ‘sketches’ rather than not release them at all.Malcom recorded the vocals for these songs, as well as a lot of the instruments and synths, while I handled the production aspect mostly, contributing guitars, (some) pianos, pads, bass, (some) synths and most of the drums. We shared a lot of the mixing duties as well. The cover art is also by me, and is made of four photos I’ve taken (and subsequently re-printed and scanned again to achieve a textured effect.)You can see a lot more like it here -hauntyouforever.tumblr.comThank you for listening <3

click through to grab it for free (i have 1200 downloads right now and i believe malcom has something like 2000 when he puts it up on his bandcamp)

Ricky Eat Acid - Blinded

----

been sitting on these Ricky Eat Acid/Arrange tracks forever and it’s killing me. this one is my favorite. i’m going to take this down tomorrow.

this is where i found out i was / the boiling of the hate in my gut / that i would have to learn to distrust / this is where i found out my gun / was filled up with a hate that i loved / the echo of a boy that won’t trust / you are incredible i’ve seen you before and you don’t even know / you held me accountable / i knew it before / and it won’t even show / Sift through the guards I take / I’ve been wondering where I’ll go / I’ve been fighting / And when the clouds overrun me / still I’ll be wondering where I’ll go / And why I’m fighting / I know this hate / ‘Cause I let it grow I tip my body and let it go

Arrange + Ricky Eat Acid - P.S.L.W.

Collaborations are a dime a dozen given the advent of, well, the internet. But it’s not often that you find two artists, great in their own regard, come together and sound like something entirely different. And, I don’t know maybe it was after spending a day alone yesterday, then coming home and finding this that just somehow met me where I was. Sometimes you just need to hear things. And I’m most certain I needed to hear this. I hope you do too.

can i bring this back considering we’re working on putting out a whole ep/lp next year?

Arrange + Ricky Eat Acid — “P. S. L. W.”

The best in music is when it recaptures specific memories through another view; as an uncertainly apparent & linear walkthrough of an obviously emotion-tangled past, overwhelmed with more thoughts set to fall in place along every thought before it, making this approach that much more heavy. Though, none of it ever has to fall on this side of the lifeline. Wait, no. You really can’t just lump everything into two categories and deny everything else. That’s where all these questions come from, but in the meantime, we can enjoy everything else, + the aesthetics here. Don’t even know if I had a chance.

Arrange and Ricky Eat Acid should have happened a long time ago and I’m going to start off by saying “P.S.L.W.” has a killer ending; fading out to one of the most beautiful sounding synth melodies. Before all of that though, Malcom Lacey’s voice laces above the track’s dug down percussion and woah I am still taken away by Malcom’s vocals just as I was with every track off of Arrange’s Plantation. With this though, there’s just something truly connected and I hope we can expect more collaborations from these two.
