Medic Hands (Memoire D’ Amour + Arrange) did a little track for the mixtape entitled “Glitter.” Glad to be in the presence of some fantastic artists.

Love - sometimes elusive, sometimes painful. At some point in our life, we may experience love and with that feeling might come heartbreak.
After the success of our Holiday Sweaters & Egg Nog compilation, Cactus-Mouth and I decided to team up again for two of music’s great subject matters: love & heartbreak. We asked artists to give us their interpretation of either a love or heartbreak song - exclusively for us. While some may tug at your heart strings, they are never too saccharine or sappy, nor are they too dismal or bleak. This is a MONSTER mix - 20 different artists - 71 minutes of heart-stopping goodness.
We were super lucky to get such wonderful contributions from these artists. This time around we had some amazing covers - from the stupendously catchy “Not Feeling The Love (Trapped In The Black Lodge)” R. Kelly cover by Kuhrye-oo, the Wintercoats’ sublime “Someone To Share My Life With” Jens Lekman cover, Naminé’s echo-y, heartbreaking New Order “Bizarre Love Triangle” cover, and the swirling, swoon worthy “The Way You Look Tonight” Frank Sinatra cover by Saskatchewan. They do the originals justice and even surpass them, if I say so myself.
I feel so grateful to have newer artists on board like: Moths (he released a video for our track yesterday), Under Alien Skies, clownfacee, Youth Castles, and Pressed And, as well as some of my dream comp artists like Jeans Wilder, Local Winds & Top Girls, Fielded, and Welcome Back Sailors. We also pulled in the likes of such talented folks as Medic Hands, Sutja Gutiérrez, Kiss Kiss Fantastic, and Ra Calium. A big special shout out to my eternal homeboy, the ever wonderful, ever helpful: Guerre. No exclusive comp of mine (collaboration or not) will ever be complete without some input from him!
Before I close, I must add that one of the most giggle inducing (in a completely good way) tracks on the comp is Butterclock’s “breakUPparadize”. Drawing from “Gangster Paradise”, it will leave you both slightly heartbroken yet smiling. ALSO, a radically different, super lo-fi mono track from Ricky Eat Acid entitled “Seventeen”.
I want to thank each and every artist on the mix, my good buddy Cactus Mouth, and, most of all, you for listening. FEEL THE LOVE! ♥

Another Night in the ‘Burbs: The Autumn Mix, pt. 1 (2010)
As mentioned a few posts back, I’ve compiled twentyfive tracks over the last three weeks to represent my Fall listening habits. The process was nothing more than discovering new tunes or rediscover old ones that conjured “Fall-ish feelings/images” within me. This could be through blatant Autumn imagery/lyrical fodder (a pumpkin on your album cover or a song entitled “Autumn Sweater”) or compositional elements that subjectively felt appropriate for the season. Without further ado, the tracks:
1.) Bark Psychosis — Absent Friend
from the album Hex (Caroline Records, 1994)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4OSxc9XYRc
2.) Bohren & der Club of Gore — Maximum Black
from the album Black Earth (Ipecac, 2002)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1b0GO7_uXU
3.) Cannibal Ox — Iron Galaxy
from the album The Cold Vein (Definitive Jux, 2001)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DVNwyCymUw
4.) Chromatics — In the City
from the compilation After Dark (Italians Do It Better, 2007)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFOxribt3kA
5.) Dead Man’s Bones — In the Room Where You Sleep
from the album Dead Man’s Bones (Anti, 2009)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGakxDyjwzc
6.) Deerhunter — Helicopter
from the album Halcyon Digest (4AD, 2010)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5RzpPrOd-4
7.) feedtime — Doesn’t Time Fly
from the album feedtime (Aberrant, 1985)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqC7tsyfOII
8.) Fripp & Eno — Evensong
from the album Evening Star (EG Records, 1975)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJe-1OhssUk
9.) Iron & Wine — Cinder and Smoke
from the album Our Endless Numbered Days (Sub Pop, 2004)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSarZ7g1F-g
10.) Joanna Newsom — Cosmia
from the album Ys (Drag City, 2006)

I’ll just leave this right here. You can find pt. 2 on his blog.
